Mown meadows, clean streets, flowerpots hanging from our balconies – many of you have told us how pretty and well-tended our villages are. Here, in Paganella, we believe respecting nature is of the utmost importance, something we teach to our children.
We train young firefighters from the age of 11.
Alpine guides and the Adamello Brenta Nature Park experts walk with the children in the forests to discover our mountains’ ecosystem and learn how important it is to preserve them.
Every summer, we ask local teenagers if they’d like to get their hands dirty by volunteering in the “Ci sto affare fatica” programme. For a week, they learn how to repair, build, paint, and take care of our villages and forests.
At the end of the week, they receive a €50 voucher – but they sign up and return the following years for other reasons.
Who’d have thought Nicola would enjoy cleaning fountains, and yet he had a blast. Or take Tina and Geremia, who learnt how to fix and paint benches.
The project strengthens the ties between the teenagers of different villages, who all live in these mountains.
Our daily commitment is to convey to the new generations what living here implies. And you can help us, too. By cleaning up after a picnic, by not dropping tissues in the forests, by taking a picture of a flower rather than plucking it.
